How It’s Made: Bean Boots

February 6, 2010

The Bean Boot by L.L. Bean is one of those polarizing items that you either love or hate. You either think it is the epitomy of utilitarian beauty or Elmer Fuddsian dorkiness.

I like ’em, even though I really have very little need for them in Southern California (though on a rainy day like today…). Reading through the Bean Boot Project on Sartorially Inclined only makes want them more.

Came across this video posted by L.L. Bean’s PR department on YouTube. A local tv reporter, Bill Green, did a story in January 2009 on Bean Boots (you might need to crank up your volume):

Another view of how they are made in this behind-the-scenes commercial by L.L. Bean:

I’m just not feeling the moc. I’ll probably get the shortest boot one of these days.
