Making Faces

March 24, 2010

Jim Rimmer was possibly the last person who could create digital and metal type. That may not sound like much, but in an increasingly digital world, where some art school graduates have trouble drawing, the skills Jim possessed made him a rare treasure. Unfortunately he passed away in January.

In 2008, he released RTF Stern as a digital font and metal font. Richard Kegler shot a documentary called Making Faces profiling Jim and the making of Stern. The film is currently in post-production. You can help get it released by visiting the film’s Kickstarter site.
