Hog’s Mountain of Redneck Chic
Hog Mountain: A General Store for Men is a Brooklyn boutique that opened last fall. Created by Jess Draper, the store is modeled after Southern-style general stores Draper encountered growing up in Alabama. That means stores where you could buy a pair of Levis, shoe polish, and a hammer.
Their Facebook page has a little description of the store: Remember your favorite pair of jeans, that prized, soft leather jacket that people asked you about on the street, your cherished boots that looked like they’d been run over by a truck? That’s what we sell. Our mission is to have every item in the store be your favorite. But we’re more than that.
Just like the name says, we are a general store for men. The improbable love child of LL Bean, Barney’s New York and your local hardware store, we offer basic, classic items in every category for men.
Levis 501’s? Of course we sell them. We live in them. But we also offer the perfect messenger bag. A hammer, a bow tie, and a lesson on how to use them? Yep, that’s us. What about a classic khaki trouser? Absolutely. The perfect cuff links, facial cleanser and an adventure on a Saturday morning? Well, you get the idea.
Notice the suggestion board in the right column, where customers can vote on items they want the store to sell.

Very nice. Any place that describes themselves as a love child between LL Bean and Barneys is worth checking out in my book.
