L.L. Bean Maine Lodge Jacket
While the Blackwatch Duffel Coat blew up all over the ultraweb yesterday, I actually like the more compact Maine Lodge Jacket in olive plaid. Made from an Italian wool blend with a light Thinsulate lining, it looks great for a crisp New England fall day, or in my case, Southern California winter as we sip our chai soy lattes at the beach and laugh our Dr. Evil-laugh at the national weather report.
I actually like more of the outerwear in the main line as opposed to the Signature line, though a few pieces in the fall preview haven’t been released yet. The two things that worry me about this jacket are the collar (see the styling on the third picture below and cringe) and the “relaxed fit” meant for a mid-weight sweater. Sizing down doesn’t always work in regards to sleeve length or shoulder width.
Also available in brown or charcoal herringbone for the less adventurous.
