“New York” documentary by Ric Burns

November 2, 2011

This multi-episodic documentary about New York City first came out in 1999 and was directed by Ric Burns, Ken’s brother, which is why it may have a familiar narrative feel to it. After our only trip together to New York in early 2001, my wife and I watched the entire series and were ready to go back. Sadly we haven’t been back since, though I went back on a business trip 6 years ago, but the city remains in our hearts. After 9/11, another episode was created that focused on the history of the Twin Towers as well as what happened that fateful day. The series has been posted in chunks on YouTube, but I urge you to seek out the DVDs on Netflix or your local library. Great viewing.
